St Mary’s is a beautiful church - arguably the most beautiful in Clevedon. We offer the Christian faith set within a confident Anglican choral tradition with traditional and contemporary hymns, large robed choir, thoughtful preaching, a varied pattern of services alternating Sung Eucharist and Morning Prayer and a full pattern of seasonal services and activities. We seek to be a welcoming and inclusive community and our ministry is always held within an active and living faith in God from which our worship, welcome and pastoral support flows.
We can offer a wonderful venue for weddings, seating 150, and other family occasions including funerals and baptisms. The church and large well equipped hall benefit from level access and ample on street parking.
St Mary’s is a place of considerable history and heritage. The original church is Saxon (we have headstones and a preaching cross which are 1000 years old), the tower is 15th century and the main nave Victorian. But the heritage is a living one and we have recently restored our ancient well (older than the church) and created a beautiful and peaceful Well Garden fully accessed from the road outside for all to enjoy.
Pastoral care and friendship are important to us and we hold frequent social activities together.
St Mary’s has an atmosphere of peace, calm and sanctity - reassuringly traditional but alive in spirit and welcome.

St Mary’s Coronation Well Project
Behind St Mary’s you can find an ancient well, dating from the 13th century, which was the water source for the village/hamlet of Stoke Super Mare. The hamlet was abandoned in the 1650s, the church being extended and reconsecrated in 1870. As part of our celebration of the Coronation of King Charles we are restoring the ancient well and hoping to link it via the Civic Society to the walking route around Clevedon. The water would have been used for baptisms and all other sacred and secular uses for many hundreds of years. Please support our community project - Donation details above but using the reference WELL. Thank you.
