BELL RINGING IN THE BENEFICE

 

All Saintsí Bell Ringers 

All Saints bellringersWe are very fortunate to have four towers in the Benefice with ringable bells: All Saintsí, St. Maryís (Walton), St. Michaelís (Clapton in Gordano) and St. Peter and St. Paulís (Weston in Gordano).

 

All Saints:has a ring of five bells with an 11 cwt tenor.Practices are held on Monday evenings from 7.00 p.m. and Sunday ringing is from 10.00 a.m.The Tower contact is: Joan Harris Tel: 01275 879840 email: joandhar1@yahoo.co.uk.

 

St. Michaelís (Clapton in Gordano): has a ring of 6 bells with an 8 cwt tenor.The church is a Grade I listed building and is now cared for by The Churches Conservation Trust.Contact for bell ringing is Mrs. Janet Wyatt, 48 Mead Road, Portishead, Bristol BS20 6RZ. Tel. 01275 843770.

 

St. Peter and St. Paulís (Weston in Gordano): has a ring of 6 bells with an 8 cwt tenor.There is no local band of ringers, but the St. Maryís band ring for Sunday services.Sunday ringing is from 5.45 p.m. on 1st, 2nd and 4th Sundays, and from 10.15 a.m. on 3rd Sundays in month (please ring for confirmation).Contact is Mr. D. St. Maryís (Walton): has a ring of six bells which were newly installed in 1997, with a 7 cwt tenor.Practices are held on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m., and Sunday ringing is from 9.20 a.m. Contact Andy Darvill on 07867 801 359 or email: andydarvill@gmail.com.
